PROJECTS OVER THE YEARS...

Memorial Chapel
Restoration

2025

The Memorial Chapel, built in 1911 by funds raised by the Nemasket Hill Sewing Circle was in dire need of a complete renovation.  Thanks to generous Middleboro CPA funds, the restoration is nearly completed and will be open to the public soon.  Stay tuned...

Entrance Gate and Arch
Repair and Renovation

2013 and 2017

The iron gate and arch at the cemetery were purchased by the Sewing Circle.  In 2013, these were damaged & repaired with assistance from B.P. Regional Technical School.  Damaged again in 2017 & 2018, the arch and gates were repaired by Cassidy Brothers Forge with generous CPA funding .

Monument and
Stone Repair

On-Going

The cemetery's gravestones span is over 300 years. Preserving , repairing, and cleaning our gravestones  is an on-going process. As time and resources are available, we will continue this project.

Baby Memorial
"Baby Haven"

Dedicated December 6, 2014

With the assistance of 'Angels in America', the Cemetery was able to erect a monument for the 83 babies in unmarked graves between the 1920s and 1990s. We thank trustees Joan Gladu and Carol Damon for seeing this through completion.

Repair of Stairs from the Footbridge to the Cemetery

2014

In 1919, wooden stairs were built to ascended the hill to access the cemetery from the footbridge at the Nemasket River.

In 1944, the footbridge was rebuilt with new concrete steps. After 70 years of neglect, trustee Bob Soderbom located and cleared the steps for ease of access to the river.  Is the rebuilding of the footbridge in our future?

Documenting Veteran  Locations and Markers

2013 and On-Going

Over the last centuries, several veterans' locations and markers have been lost, forgotton, or never recognized.  Nemasket Hill Cemetery has a Veteran’s Trustee Team that is working to ensure that each Veteran interred at the Nemasket Hill Cemetery, from King Phillip’s War to the present day, is properly documented and has the correct medallion.

Donating is important

Help us continue to improve the cemetery.
