ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
ALL lot/ niche OWNERS and deed holders to a lot are members of the Nemasket Hill Cemetery Association.
All lots are sold with a perpetual care. Perpetual care refers to the general upkeep of lots, mowing, trimming and removal of shrubs & trees, which will be done with authorization from the Board of Trustees. Perpetual care fees are minimal and we mainly depend on volunteers and donations for ongoing care.
The name of the PRESENT lot owner or legal representative of lot/niche must be on file with the clerk. The deed may pass into family/descendants hands. As this is a formal transfer, the clerk must be notified in writing. The holder of the deed is the only one who is authorized to decide who may be interred on the lot. So, it is necessary that the cemetery have this information in writing. (Clerical fee may apply)
We ask that you inform us in writing if you have already determined who will utilize your lot so we may honor your wishes.
If an owner of an UNUSED lot/niche no longer wishes to own a lot/niche, notification must be given in writing to the cemetery's clerk. The Association may buy back the lot/niche for the purchase price minus expenses and clerical fees. The lot/niche may NOT be sold privately.
ALL deed owners are required to provide permanent markers on their lot, within 12 months of purchase and/or interment. To assist you, the cemetery could order a flat marker for an additional fee.
Family/friends MUST notify the cemetery of any cremains burial. This is for the purpose of record keeping.
All monuments, markers, etc. MUST have the approval of the cemetery clerk before placement on a lot. ONLY ONE upright stone is allowed on a conventional/full burial lot.
Monument companies MUST obtain PRIOR approval from the clerk for ALL markers.
For safety of cemetery volunteers & visitors, GLASS and CERAMIC containers and open flame CANDLES are PROHIBITED and will be removed.
Containers, flower pots, baskets, seasonal or unsecured displays, etc. may be removed with the authorization from the Board of Trustees.
New tree and shrub plantings are prohibited. Existing trees, shrubs, benches, memorabilia, etc. may be removed (with trustee authorization) if deemed in the best interest of the cemetery (i.e. infringing on abutting lots, safety, or inconvenience to the care and maintenance of lots).
Stone monument repair and cleaning is the responsibility of the lot owner. Stone cleaning is available for a fee. Private contractors for stone cleaning must contact the clerk for detailed restrictions PRIOR to cleaning.
Ashes/cremains shall NOT be spread on cemetery land. This prohibited activity will result in charges/fees.
The Board of Trustees will decide if a funeral must be rescheduled due to unsafe conditions (safety is our priority).
